Battlefield Tours
Discover the stories behind the battlefields of the Netherlands and Belgium.
_______
The most famous battle fought in the Netherlands was operation Market Garden, a push to capture the bridges across the main rivers. This turned out to be "A Bridge too Far".
Other battles where fought by British, American, Polish and Canadian troops, and from Amsterdam it is possible to visit the Battle of the Bulge and Hürtgenwald.

Operation Market Garden
It was the biggest airborne operation at the time, the effort to bypass German defences in one big push across the rivers of Holland. Had it succeeded the road to Germany would have been open, so was the idea. The operation failed as the bridge at Arnhem proved to be one "Bridge too far".
From the Belgium border all the way to Arnhem there are many stories to tell and sites to visit. It was an incredibly complicated battle and only when you stand on the actual ground can you truly appreciate the dynamics, distances and obstacles involved. Only then does the battle start to make sense.
Band of Brothers
Easy Company became world famous through the series Band of Brothers. As part of the 101st Airborne Division, they took part in Operation Market Garden, landing near Eindhoven and helping to liberate the city before facing determined German counterattacks.
After Market Garden, the division was moved north to the area between Arnhem and Nijmegen known as The Island. Here they defended the front line along the rivers and Easy Company fought the famous Crossroads battle that earned Dick Winters a promotion to battalion executive officer.
Stand where Easy Company stood and discover how much of the story is still visible in the landscape today.
