Frequently Asked Questions
____
Planning a private historical journey? Here are some of the questions guests often ask before travelling.
Which remembrance sites can we visit?
Every journey is tailored to your interests. Popular destinations include the Anne Frank neighbourhood, Westerbork, Camp Vught, Camp Amersfoort, the Hollandsche Schouwburg, Jewish Amsterdam and other places connected to the occupation, persecution and resistance in the Netherlands.
Are these journeys suitable for people with little knowledge of World War II?
Certainly. Whether you have studied the war for years or are visiting these places for the first time, I will adapt the journey to your level of knowledge and interests. The focus is not only on events, but on the people who lived through them.
Can you help me visit places connected to my own family history?
Yes. Many remembrance journeys include a personal element. If you have relatives who experienced the war, I can often help research locations, records and stories before the journey, making the experience even more meaningful.
Are these journeys emotionally difficult?
They can be. Places such as Westerbork or former concentration camps confront us with some of the darkest chapters in human history. My aim is not only to explain what happened, but also to provide historical context and space for reflection throughout the day.
What makes a private remembrance journey different from visiting these places on my own?
History is about people, not just places. A private journey allows us to move beyond dates and facts, connecting events to individual stories, personal experiences and the choices people faced. Together we explore not only what happened, but why it still matters today.
